Hi, I’m Kate and guess what, I love to bake. Now you have made it to my website you will have seen some of the cakes I have had the pleasure of making. So, let me tell you a few things about me... I’ve always loved creating sweet treats for my family and friends, my background for many years has been in catering and I hold a level 2 hygiene and safety certificate. In 2019 I was asked by my daughter to make a special celebration cake, a creation with fresh edible flowers and gold drip. I must say, it had many admirers. It seems funny how from this one cake, I have gained the confidence to follow my passion, register my kitchen (achieving a food hygiene level 5) and start my own business.
Here at Kate’s Kakes I can offer bespoke cakes made to order. All occasions can be catered for, from batches of freshly baked brownies to uniquely crafted special occasion cakes and everything in between. I am on a mission to bake rustic creations with scrumptious flavours and a hint of magic. I use locally sourced and free range produce. Where possible I grow my own edible flowers, which have taken centre stage on some of my cakes in the past, can you get more local than that? I love experimenting with icing and piping, which you have hopefully seen in the gallery, but just a heads up, fondant is not my thing. When ordering a cake with me, allergens will be taken into consideration to help personalise your bake to best fit your needs. I am always up for trying something new.
